We are seeking the necessary funds to restore Odina, a replica of a traditional falutx from Arenys, which suffered severe damage last summer after running aground on the beach. Odina is a key element of the El Moll project, which brings together a wide range of training, social and volunteer activities focused on the conservation and promotion of maritime heritage. Work on the vessel has already begun, but we need additional support to fully fund the restoration and other direct interventions on the boat, which are complemented by workshops, educational and recreational activities linked to the restoration process itself.
Main features and goals of the crowdfunding campaign
The main objective is to have Odina sailing again by next summer. The planned phases are:
- Repair of the damage and restoration of the hull’s original structure.
- Installation of a new engine.
- Stepping the mast and fitting the complete wooden and iron rigging (mast, yards, boom, bowsprit, outrigger, etc.).
- Painting and final finishing touches.
- Haul-out and relaunch.
Complementary outreach and educational activities will be carried out to share the restoration work and related maritime practices, documenting and supporting traditional artisanal boatbuilding techniques.
Why this is important
To everyone who loves Odina, and to all who are drawn to the world of maritime tradition and traditional and classic sailing
Team and experience
A team of collaborators and volunteers will carry out the restoration of the Odina. The work has already been started by master shipwright Agustín Jordán (Instagram presentation), following the preliminary diagnosis and monitoring by master shipwright David Liñan. The project will take place at the 'Espai del Moll' on the fishing pier of Arenys de Mar.
